I had added the GFDL image tag, but this was reverted. It now does not have an image tag.

All images need to be tagged; otherwise someone may list them for deletion. So the question is, what's the best tag to use?

Option 1: {{CopyrightedFreeUse}}. This seems to be close to what the Free Art License says.

Option 2: {{GFDL}}. All material uploaded to Wikipedia is automatically licensed under the GFDL, although the author may specify a second license as well if he/she wishes.

What do you think? Quadell (talk) (help)[[]] 14:18, Nov 16, 2004 (UTC)

I've reverted it because it contradicts the content of the page. This image may not be tagged, but it has a clearly indicated license, so if someone removed it on the basis of merely not having a tag, that would be pretty stupid...
An old version of the upload form did not imply that material has to be co-licensed under the GFDL. I don't know offhand if this was changed before 2004-9-3. --Joy [shallot] 20:06, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I remember that it was. Also, I script runs to separate those image with tags from those that don't. Tagged images (that have a free license or are public domain) will eventually be moved over to the Commons so all language versions of Wikipedia can use them. A CD version of Wikipedia will be released with Mandrake Linux, but only tagged images will be included. There are distant plans to print copies of wikipedia and but only tagged images would go there. Etc. Anyway, I'm going to add the GFDL tag, but if you think another tag would be more appropriate, then by all means replace it. Quadell (talk) (help)[[]] 20:28, Nov 16, 2004 (UTC)
