Treorchy Male Choir

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Treorchy Male Choir, based in Treorchy, Wales, is one of the most famous male voice choirs in the world.

Founded in 1883 at the Red Cow public house, and originally called the "Treorky" Male Choir, it became world-famous after two wins at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, and was afterwards called on to perform for Queen Victoria.

After the Second World War, the choir's fortunes revived under John Haydn Davies, and they enjoyed further Eisteddfod successes and a notable recording career.
