Trends in Ecology and Evolution

Trends in Ecology & Evolution (TREE; ISSN 0169-5347) is a monthly review journal that is one of fourteen Trends titles in the life sciences published by Elsevier. TREE is aimed at those working in the ecological and evolutionary sciences and related specialist areas and provides an instant overview of current thinking for students, academic and applied scientists who want to keep up with the latest developments in these areas. Since its launch in 1986, TREE has gained rapidly in popularity and is currently (in the year 2006) the highest cited journal in the fields of ecology and evolution.

The journal contains several article types. Reviews are concise articles by leading scientists. They are written in an accessible style and aim to keep scientists informed of new developments and ideas across the full range of ecological and evolutionary research. Opinions are similar to Reviews, but with greater scope for hypothesis and personals perspective. Research Focus articles are shorter pieces that comment on one or a few recently published papers. The journal also contains short Book Reviews, Letters and Editorials.
