Trendelenburg position

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the Trendelenburg position the body is laid flat on the back with the head lower than the pelvis, in contrast to the reverse trendelenburg position. This is a standard position used in abdominal and gynecological surgery. It allows better access to the pelvic organs and intestines move towards the head by gravity. It was named for the German surgeon Friedrich Trendelenburg.
