Treaty of Barwald

The Treaty of Barwald was signed on January 23, 1631 between Armand Jean du Plessis and the Swedish Empire. Based on the terms of the treaty, France and Sweden established an alliance against Germany. Moreover, the accord dictated that Richlieu pay Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden an annual subsidy of one million livres in order to maintain the alliance.
