Treaty of Azores
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Treaty of Azores was signed in Azores on May 26, 1888 between representatives of France and the United States. Based on the terms of the accord, both signatories agreed to establish a mutual defensive alliance. This alliance would be activated whenever a foreign power attacked either one of the signatories. In lieu of a conflict that only affects one of the signatories, the other signatory must extend the coaling rights of the attacked party.
