Treaty 5

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Treaty 5 was an agreement established from September 1875 between the Canadian government and the Saulteaux and Swampy Cree First Nations. Much of what is today central Manitoba was covered by the treaty, as were a few small adjoining portions of the present-day provinces of Saskatchewan and Ontario. Additional communities of First Nations signed on between 1908 and 1910, following the initial round of signings that completed on September 1876.
