From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Treasons Act 1571 (short title 13 Eliz I c. 1) was an Act of the Parliament of England during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I which superseded the Treasons Act 1534 passed by parliament during the reign of her father, Henry VIII of England. Amongst other things, it forbade the criticism of the monarchy. It has since been repealed.
