From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Who are you? I'm Travis aka t9.
Theres a new wikipedian in town and he's fitting to bust some CAPS ;0

My name is Travis Osborne. I live in the capital of the state of Ohio, the city of Columbus. I recently entered my 27th year of living. I have a 4 years old daughter named Alexis that turns 5 towards the end of march 2005. I have a girlfriend of four years named Crystal whom I currently share an apartment with.

I just created this account a few minutes ago, at about 5:00 AM EST, 1/28/2005. I have used the wikipedia a fair number of times, but generally to quickly find specific information, and not for general browsing. I am very impressed with both the content and concept of the Wikipedia. I feel that a 'live' encyclopedia in a state of perpetual revision has far reaching implications behind what we may be capable of understanding fully today. I hope to contribute to the Wikipedia project in the future, and in doing so also make a contribution to our shared future as humans. In the future, when my daughter is in high school or college, I hope that the quality and quantity of information available on the wikipedia makes it one of the more frequently used, cited, and accepted tools for research in academia.

I hope that my collection of otherwise useless information, my penchant for aquiring more of it than is needed, and my extreme resourcefulness (as observed by peers) in locating the materials I desire is something that will help me to be a good wikipedian. I hope that my horrible spelling and grammar is something that will not keep me from being a good wikipedian.

I'd like to say that participating in the wikipedia feels a little like being asked to participate in the galactic encyclopedia project and be a member of the first Foundation. I cant speak for him, but I have a feeling that Asimov would find the Wikipedia very interesting and also very very important.

I love to read fiction among other things. I generally dont read non-fiction books for entertainment, or at all for that matter. My favorite books are sci-fi, specifically cyberpunk books and what is sometimes called "hard" sci-fi. My favorite authors include Asimov, Stephonson, Gibson, and Clarke. My other major interests include the sciences, technology, humans and humanity, history, electronic music, information technology, open source software, and enlightenment.
