User:TrackerTV/History

Using America Online, TrackerTV began as an anonymous user in October 2005, at the same time the main focus of the other accounts shifted from the Nintendo NSider Forums to Simtropolis after various red tape items (including a camping trip) were cleared. In early November, Wikipedia quickly became a major focus. In order to upload a file to KGUN (which he never did), he registered an account. The Tracker name was new (it was used on Simtropolis as part of a rebranding from KingBoo1 on the NSider forums), but it was already taken, so he slapped on "TV" (to reflect the television station focus of his edits). The account was created on 12 November 2005. The changes went into effect, and soon after, TrackerTV was moving faster than as an anonymous user. He not only filled holes in Phoenix and Tucson broadcast outlets (the latter's CBS affiliate, KOLD-TV, did not have an article). In December of 2005, TrackerTV filled in market 170 (Yuma-El Centro), starting with The WB 100+ Station Group's cable only outlet, KWUB. The simple sentence it displayed was ambiguous, but another user would expand and stretch the project to the point where the local Big Three (ABC swapped with Fox) affiliates were added, as well as a whole lot more. TrackerTV continued to gain on the "Imperial Valley" project. Then, on 24 January 2006, The CW was announced: one month later, My Network TV added more fuel to the fire. By March, TrackerTV also provided CW and My Network TV affiliation info constantly to a Dish Network chart. He had been providing other items since January, including initial CW affiliates. TrackerTV also joined the Pokémon Collaborative Project in March. By then, TrackerTV had also joined WikiProject Television Stations. In June of that month, TrackerTV continued onward, upgrading an infobox for KXRM, ultimately creating the KXRM sandbox pages that remain attached to TrackerTV. He also met another user focusing on broadcasting in Arizona, Dhett. By the end of the month, he even used an FCC query to add call letter information and move WBHQ to WKTC. In July, TrackerTV went from public domain to GFDL licensing. By this point, he was uploading old station logos frequently: ironically, this was the reason TrackerTV was incorporated as an account. By the end of July, TrackerTV began spreading to other Wikimedia projects, as evidenced by the Wikimedia Commons account TrackerTV, which share a page with the TrackerTV Wikipedia account.
