Travis Walker, born June 22, 1979 in Tallahassee, FL, is an American boxer who was an amateur star and is currently a heavyweight prospect.
[edit] Amateur
He became the 2003 National Golden Gloves Super Heavyweight Champion but was in the shadow of the nationally dominant Jason Estrada who beat him three times in the amateurs. His record was 26-8.
[edit] Professional
Known as "Freight Train", Walker turned pro in 2004. Although he remained undefeated after over twenty fights, he has yet to reach the upper echelon of the heavyweight division due to his lackluster competition. In 2005 he had his first decent opponent in Jason Gavern on ESPN which ended in a draw. In late 2006, he scored his biggest win, a majority decision over undefeated Jason Estrada where he was in better shape and managed a knockdown. In April 2007, Walker fought George Garcia, another undefeated fighter who had beaten him as a star amateur, and won the vacant IBA Americas Heavyweight title by a narrow split decision.
