Travis Perkins

Travis Perkins plc is a British builders merchant based in Northampton. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.
Travis Perkins was formed by a merger between Travis & Arnold and Sandell Perkins in 1988 but it traces its origins back to 1797, when the Benjamin Ingram company of joiners and carpenters was founded at 33 Beech Street in the City of London. Acquisitions since 1988 have included:
- 1994: AAH (46 branches)
- 1996: BMSS (26 branches)
- 1998: Keyline Builders Merchants (101 branches) and Sharpe & Fisher (38 branches)
- 2002: City Plumbing Supplies Limited (48 branches) and Commercial Ceiling Factors (20 distribution centres)
- 2003: Jayhard (53 branches) and B&G (12 branches)
- 2005 (February): Wickes (171 stores)
In 2004 Sir Bobby Robson opened Travis Perkins' 750th branch, which was in Newcastle. The company's product lines including kitchens and bathrooms, hand and power tools, landscaping materials, general building materials, painting and decorating materials, timber and joists. It also offers tool hire, and services for self-builders.
Travis Perkins' turnover for the year to 31 December 2004 was £1,828.6 million. Profits were £190.4 million before tax and £130.1 million after tax.
Travis Perkins opened its 1000th branch in May 2006.
