Travis Liles
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Travis Liles (born August 12, 1977, Nashua, New Hampshire) is a New Hampshire politician. Liles is the youngest son of Andrew and Ruthann (Sage) Liles. He has been active in New Hampshire politics since the 1990s.
In 2004 Liles sought the Democratic Party's First Congressional District nomination, losing out to Justin Nadeau, Peter Duffy and Bob Bruce.
Liles' (who ran as an openly gay candidate, [1]) loss has been attributed to insufficient financial resources and time; he finished with just over 4% of the vote.

[edit] Political Career
From an early age Travis Liles volunteered on numerous political campigns in New Hampshire, including those of Joe Keefe, Robert Preston, Bob Kerrey, Ned Helms and Bill Clinton's general election campaign all before the end of 1992.
[edit] 1992 Presidential Campaign
Travis volunteered significant time on three seperate Presidential campigns in 1992 starting first with former Massachusetts Senator Paul Tsongas. Travis spent each day at the Manchester, NH office doing numerous jobs. Later that year when Senator Bob Kerrey of Nebraska joined the race, Travis left the Tsongas campaign and moved to Kerrey's where he volunteered though the New Hampshire Primary.
Travis moved on to volunteer for Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton in the general election.
[edit] 1996 Presidential Campaign
In 1996 he worked as staff assistant for President Bill Clinton's re-election campaign. He worked closely with the other staff in planning Presidential visits to the state in October and on election eve.
His knowledge of New Hampshire was valuable to the staff who were all from out of state and even assisted the White House Advance team on selecting a location for an October rally that was held at historic Gill Stadium.
[edit] 2004 Congressional Run
Having experienced several congressional races in his young life Travis decided in 2004 that he wanted to make sure issues that were important to him were discussed during the campaign. Travis was the first candidate to file with the Federal Election Commission and was later joined by three other democrats for the seat.
Knowing he would stand little chance against better funded candidates including one chosen by the democratic establishment he went about making sure his vies were voiced.

- Supports gun control
[edit] Travis Responds
Today someone or someones are attempting to censor wikipedia. Apparently they have enough time on there hands to search through the tens of thousands of wikipedia entries and determine based on there own views what is and isn't notable.
The voters of New Hampshire who supported my campaign believe I was notable enough to recieve their vote in 1994.
Another point to make here was that the main mission of my campaign in 2004 was to make sure the right of Gay Americans were heard and in the end Democratic nominee Justin Nadeau publicly supported same-sex marriage[2] So that alone made my campaign sucessful.
