Travel Channel (UK)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For Travel Channel in United States, see Travel Channel.

Travel Channel (UK) is operated from London and serves both the United Kingdom and other countries in Europe and Africa with travel related programs, ranging from travelogues to teleshopping for package holidays. The US-based Travel Channel owned by Discovery Communications is unconnected to this channel, and operates as Discovery Travel & Living in territories where the Travel Channel exists.

Travel Channel is broadcasted free to air on the Astra 2A and can therefore be watched by subscribers to Sky Digital. It is also freely available at Astra 1G which makes it possible for a lot of people around Europe to watch it. In other European countries the channel is broadcasted on satellite in encrypted versions and accessible for subscribers to different packages. In Sweden, for example, the channel is sold by Canal Digital and Viasat.

The British version somewhat differs from the pan-european version.
