Trailfire or Trailfire.com is a social news site that is based on the associative trails concept from the memex system proposed by Vannevar Bush in 1945. Using a browser extension, available for Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, marks are placed on web pages to associate them with other pages forming trails of related information. Notes and comments can be placed in the marks along the trail, and trails can be browsed and rated by other users.

Trailfire was founded in February of 2005 by John O'Halloran and Pat Ferrel, former employees of Aldus. Trailfire's investors include Voyager Capital, WRF Capital, and a group of angel investors.
