Tracy Island

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tracy Island was the secret base of the Tracy family located in the South Pacific Ocean in the Gerry and Silvia Andersons 1960s television series Thunderbirds. The island's true function as home to the International Rescue organisation was heavily camouflaged. For example Thunderbird 1 took off from a launch pad hidden beneath a swimming pool.

A re-run of the show on BBC2 in 1992 led to a shortage of Tracy Island models, and so the British children's programme Blue Peter demonstrated how to build a home-made version.

In the 2004 live action movie, one of the islands of the Seychelles was used as the island, with the buildings added using computer-generated imagery.
