Tracy Flick

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tracy Flick is the antagonist in the 1999 cult film, Election. She was played by Reese Witherspoon. Tracy is depicted as an over-achieving, obsessive and neurotic teenager, determined to be the Student Body president at her High School. In 2006, Witherspoon's performance as Tracy was voted #45 of The 100 Greatest Performances of All Time in Premiere Magazine.

[edit] Personality

Tracy appears to be an anal-retentive go-getter who will stop at nothing to win her student council election. She generates an onslaught of huge posters, buttons, and customized cupcakes all bearing her special slogan in big, bold capital letters: Pick Flick, which is Tracy's trademark. Witherspoon creates a character who is at once a riotous embodiment of a type—the geeky brownnose most people knew in high school—and a living, breathing individual, reeling with quirks, loneliness, rage and anger.

[edit] Memorable Quotes

  • Dear Lord Jesus, I do not often speak with you and ask for things, but now, I really must insist that you help me win the election tomorrow because I deserve it and Paul Metzler doesn't, as you well know. I realize that it was your divine hand that disqualified Tammy Metzler and now I'm asking that you go that one last mile and make sure to put me in office where I belong so that I may carry out your will on earth as it is in heaven. Amen. [while praying to Jesus]
  • That little bitch Tammy Metzler isn't gonna make a fool out me!
