[edit] Synopsis

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Jack angers Jenna by cancelling her appearance on Late Night with Conan O'Brien by booking Tracy on the show in her place, especially as she prepares to promote her new film The Rural Juror. Jack says the reason he did it was that Tracy is more promotable than she is and uses her past experience as the spokesperson for ShopRite--and was fired afterwards because of that--as an example.

However, Tracy complicates things by going off his meds, which could potentially ruin his upcoming appearance on Conan. Conan was already reticent about having Tracy on the show, due to a previous incident in which Tracy, overmedicated and delirious, tried to stab him with carving knives while chanting "I am a Stabbing Robot!" in a monotone voice. Jack forces Conan into booking Tracy, who told him that if he didn't, he would make Conan do a Christmas show every year from Kabul until the "War on Terror" was over. This prompts Liz, Pete and Kenneth to go into crisis mode to get Tracy's new pills at the pharmacy. After a 2-hour scramble the threesome come through: Tracy makes his appearance on Conan, only to fall asleep just as he was about to be interviewed.

In another plotline, after seeing Pete put on a Stone Phillips-type wig, Jack says it looks good on him. But Pete would later learn that Jack was serious and that he wanted Pete to keep wearing it. While it may have looked good on Pete for a while, Liz thought otherwise and ripped it off after they took care of the situation with Tracy.

Meanwhile, Liz contemplates breaking up with her boyfriend Dennis, whose behavior has her questioning whether she should tell him, but is distracted by Jack asking her for material he wants to use at a dinner for Jack Welch (which won't happen until February), Tracy's panic attacks, and after giving blood, trying to search for something sweet to control her low blood sugar count. Unfortunately, when she does return home, she tells Dennis that she forgot what she was going to tell him and fall asleep as he concentrates on playing Halo in their bedroom.

[edit] Trivia

  • The "mind grapes" were evident in scenes involving "The Blue Man," an invisible being in a blue furry outfit that looks like a grape, which is visible only to Tracy during his unstable state and later on by Liz during her sugar panic.
  • In the third episode it was mentioned that Liz once dated Conan. Their past was addressed in this episode, where Conan told Liz that he would like to forget about their brief relationship after he asked her about Dennis.
  • This is the third episode to make a Star Wars reference, when Tracy starts speaking like Chewbacca.
  • Despite airing on December 7, this episode makes a reference to Thanksgiving as coming up. This is presumably because two previous episodes were bumped forward by NBC's Special Programming.
  • Chris Parnell is the fourth SNL star to appear on the show.
