Talk:Transportation in the People's Republic of China

For reference, cities with underground railway system under construction and to be completed with in a few years:
- Nanjing (http://www.nj-dt.com/)
- Shenzhen
- Chongqing (http://61.128.129.218/) - most sections are above ground.
There is an ambitious plan to link all areas of China with very-high-speed rail (raised monorail magnetic track I think) by 2005. That should certainly be mentioned, as investment in such rail systems is a very major similarity with the EU transport system, and a very major difference from North American transport systems.
Apparently, also, the Chinese will use their own design, so there's an impact on the transport industry there, which may export such rail systems all over the world. This has pretty major impacts on world transport technology, especially as air transport is on the decline (for fuel cost, security reasons)
Should Hong Kong be added on the list of ports/harbours?
- There is a separate article on transport in Hong Kong. — Instantnood 15:04, Apr 9, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] "China"/"PRC" vs. "mainland China" for page titles
