to whoever who has made this page, i am researching tracy mcgrady and i have not found anything that is given use to me i need to questions like "What things does tracy mcgrady need to know to be a successful basketball player?" "what might happen if tracy mcgrady retires early from his NBA basketball team?" and "is tracy mcgrady a true nba superstar?" please do this because it might help other people as well as me

[edit] How tall is Tracy McGrady?

He's listed as 6'8" but is commonly refered to as much taller than that. For instance: [1] T-mac is clearly taller than Stromile Swift (6'9"). This implies that T-mac is closer to 6'10", not 6'8".

He is probably closer to 6'9 but listed at 6'8 but. It is true he might be taller or the same height as Swift but they also exaggerate Swift at a half inch to an inch taller than his actual height. Also, while with the Rockets, McGrady increased his muscle mass and weighed in at 225.

In the picture, [2], I think that the angle had an influence - it didn't look very straight. Also, you don't know the situation at the time; like, was Stromile slumping? You couldn't even see their feet so you could also say that T-mac may have been tip-toe-ing.

I have a picture of Tracy with Vince Carter from about 2 weeks ago and they look almost the same exact height. Tracy is about 6'6. If he is 6'8 than hShaq is 7'3 and if he is 6'10 Shaq is 7'5 so 6'10 isnt even close. The pic doesn't show the full bodies. T-Mac is already slouching while VC is standing upright. We can't see if T-Mac's knees are bent too. So from this pic I won't say 100% they are the same height. If the NBA says he is 6'8", why are we disagreeing??? Chensiyuan 01:29, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Oh yeah I forgot NBA heights are always accurate!!! Like Barkley being listed at 6ft6 and Ewing being listed at 7 feet.

I won't say they are always accurate. But they present a default accurate position. If you can find a reliable source that contradicts the NBA figure, then present it. Very simple methodology. Chensiyuan 02:45, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Ok fair enough I'll look for his pre-draft measurement again. That has him at 6'6.5 he looks to be a half inch taller than VC.

Just to the prove a point here he is with Vince Carter again who is 6'5.5 http://www.nba.com/media/magic/mcgrady_carter_011030.jpg Obviously he is 6'6.5 max and not 6'9-6'10. There are many more which McGrady at around the same in comparison to Carter.

i mean, you do realise these pictures are not entirely conclusive right. the science behind perspective calculations is not my realm, but even if you can hazard a good guess it still remains a guess. i think if you ask around most other wikipedia editors would really settle the issue with an official source. i know what you're saying with the picts, but they don't break the deadlock. Yeah I am looking for his pre-draft info which I've heard had him at 6'6.5 and considering he's been listed at 6'8 for his whole career that leads me to believe he didn't grow which would have been possible but still wouldn't have put him any higher than 6'7 or so. I know the pictures aren't that accurate but it seems in pretty much every picture Vince and T-Mac are very close in height. On this site all NBA players seem to be listed at there NBA heights even players who have admitted being shorter like Barkley and Ewing.

I've seen different weight numbers for T-Mac from 210-234, does anyone know for sure? Has there been an updated weigh-in?

The last official weigh in listing is 223, however he recently said in an interview with The Houston Chronicle that he now weighs 235.

Whats wrong with t-mac this season. He is not even averaging 20 points a game. He does not even attempt enough shots. He should be averaging 30 points a game this season. He is clearlin top 5 player in the NBA and the best in his team.

He's focusing on assists and helping out the team overall It's hard to score 30 a game when his back has been bothering him.

tracy mcgrady and vince carter are NOT second cousins, but THIRD cousins. In order to be SECOND cousins, they have to have the same great grandmother. Since their grandmothers are cousins, it means that they have the same great-great grandparents. That makes them THIRD cousins

Thanks for clearing this up, I was wondering about the exact relationship. I just went with second cousin since I saw it somewhere. However, a lot of times on TV and such when T-Mac is playin Carter the commentators just say "cousins" so a lot of people think they are first cousins.
