[edit] How to add your nomination
- Find an image on Wikipedia that is related to rail transport that you think is very good and would be suitable for use as the featured image.
- Edit the image's talk page and add the following text as the first line of the page: {{Trains FIC}}
- After saving the change to the talk page, click on the new its nomination sub-page link.
- At the top of this page type (replace FILENAME with the filename that you are nominating): === [[:Image:FILENAME]] ===
- Below this new line, add your reasons for nominating the image and then sign your nomination with ~~~~. You can add a thumbnail of the image to the nomination page by using the {{Trains portal/DYK image}} template as the first line immediately below the section header.
- Edit this page and add the following to the top of the list of nominations: {{Portal:Trains/Selected picture candidates/FILENAME}}
[edit] Supporting and opposing
- If you approve of a picture, write "Support" followed by your reasons.
- A nomination is considered a vote in support, so nominators don't need to add another vote to their nominations.
- If you oppose a nomination, write "Oppose" followed by the reasons for your objection. Where possible, objections should provide a specific rationale that can be addressed.
- To withdraw an objection, strike it out (with <s>...</s>) rather than removing it.

As images are promoted, their discussions will be moved to the Archive.
