- 1845 – A meeting is held in the courthouse of Navan, Ireland, to protest plans by Thomas Brodigan to build a railway between Navan and Dublin.[1]
- 1909 – William Jackson Palmer, builder of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad, dies (b. 1836).
- 1973 – Michigan governor William Milliken issues an executive order placing state railroad regulation under a newly reorganized Michigan Department of Transportation.[2]
