[edit] Summary
Image of a snare drum transient from "Cliffs of Dover" by Eric Johnson (Ah Via Musicom, 1990), processed with Adobe Audition's distortion feature to boost the audio by 9dB without clipping or using a compressor or limiter. This image shows the amount of distortion that would result if such a process were applied to the recording in an amount required to achieve the loudness standard of current popular compact discs.
