These are topics and textbooks based on 'traditional mathematics as compared to reform, or standards-based mathematics. These share common principles of explicit instruction of standards methods of finding one exact answer to problems with one correct answer, and practice of basic skills. Most do not devote much space to topics such as the environment, community, or multiculturalism, or make it an explict goal to "raise the bar", achieve "success for all" or demand "high world class standards" of performance. Most teach content and methods familiar to most generations that was educated before the 1960s.
