- I have a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and a B.A. in Computer Science. In the fall of 2007, I hope to begin formal graduate study in Applied Physics. In the meantime, I'm very fortunate to be researching theoretical computer science (part time) with a great professor and his student - two smart dudes.
- I am fluent in spoken and written English. In terms of math, my strongest areas are differential equations, numerical analysis, elementary complex analysis, and logic. I can program in several languages. I prefer C++, Perl, and Matlab.
- I enjoy reading history, economics, popular physics, and popular math. I am a music aficionado - mostly listening; though I do play guitar. Also, I was an active amateur boxer for five years. I still love the sweet science.
- Some great historical figures that interest me: Jesus, Euler, Descartes, Washington, Churchill, Gandhi, Guevara, Hayek, Feynman, and Reagan.
- Some favorite authors: William Manchester, Martin Gilbert, John Lukacs, Ernest Hemingway, Jack Kerouac, David Foster Wallace, Thomas Sowell, Victor Davis Hanson.
- I have owned a home and lived in Iowa, Nevada, Missouri, and Virginia.
- In the U.S. and Canada, I have spent >= 2 months in California, Texas, Minnesota, Ontario, Oregon, Florida, Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Illinois, Georgia, South Carolina, Indiana, Colorado, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Manitoba.
- Outside the U.S., I have worked and spent significant time in France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, and Spain. Also, I have visited Holland, Italy, England, and Mexico.
- The states that I have never visited are Washington, Idaho, Montana, New Hampshire, and Vermont. I will, however.
- Favorite airports: Denver, Cincinnati, Des Moines.
- Best roads: By far, Germany. Distant second, Texas.
