Townley is a small lunar impact crater that is located in the eastern part of the Moon. It lies to the northwest of Mare Spumans and southeast of the Apollonius crater. This crater was designated 'Apollonius G' before being assigned a name by the IAU.
This crater is generally circular, with inner walls that slopes down to a relatively dark floor. The albedo of this floor is similar to the lunar mare to the southeast. The rim is not significantly worn or eroded.
