Tower Beach

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tower Beach is located on the southernmost tip of Hilton Head Island South Carolina, a barrier island between South Carolina and Georgia. While all beaches on Hilton Head Island are public, Tower Beach is intended for property owners of Sea Pines Plantation, a private community on the south end of Hilton Head. Parking at this beach is only permitted with a Sea Pines property owner decal and during the summer and heavy traffic months, the entrance is guarded. The beach on Tower Beach is wide, but swimming can sometimes be difficult and warnings are posted at the entrance to the beach, due to the shifting sands and extreme currents always found there. Part of this is caused by the fact that Tower Beach, though on the Atlantic Ocean, is at the mouth of the Calibogue Sound.
