Towards the Sinister is the first demo release by death/doom metal band My Dying Bride after their intense 6 month rehearsal period in 1990. The entire demo was recorded and mixed at Revolver Studios on the 24th and 25th of November, 1990 and was produced by Tim Walker. The demo contains low sound quality due to using old and low-budget sound equipment. After the release of the demo tape in 1990 the band had no problem with sales of the EP released in 1991 entitled "God Is Alone" which was the shot that hit Peaceville Records' target and got them a record contract.
