Torsa river

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Torsa or Torsha river is the second largest river in the North Bengal region after the Teesta River. It rises from the Bhutan himalayas where it is known as the Amo Chu. It flows past the important border towns of Phuntsholing (in Bhutan) and Jaigaon (on the Indian side of the border) and past the great tea estate of Dalsingpara and the Jaldapara wild-life sanctuary. The beautiful landscape here is ideal for family picnics, and the wildlife sanctuary has tigers, rhinoceros and deer of many varieties. The Torsa river finally flows into the Teesta in Bangladesh.
