Toronto Comicon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Toronto Comicon is a slang way of saying Toronto Comic Book Convention (another alternate slang term is "Toronto Comic Con").
During the 1980's, 1990's and into the 21st century numerous companies have utilized the term (or a variation of it) to promote single day flea market style comic book conventions in the city of Toronto, Canada.
Currently two companies in Toronto are promoting events called Toronto Comicon/ComiCON:
- Hobby Star Marketing, who also put on the annual Fan Expo Canada (subdivisions of that event are branded the Canadian National Comic Book Expo and the Canadian National Anime Expo), brand their single day shows "Toronto ComiCON". These events are held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
- Paradise Conventions, a division of comic book store Paradise Comics, holds a 3-day Annual event that they used to call simply the Toronto Comicon but in 2005 started referring to the event as the Paradise Comics Toronto Comicon to avoid confusion with the similarly named events from Hobby Star. The Paradise Comicon Toronto is held at the National Trade Centre at Exhibition Place.
