Tornaľa (Slovak: Šafárikovo from 1948-1990; Hungarian: Tornalja) is a town and municipality in Revúca District in the Banská Bystrica Region of Slovakia. As of 2004, it has a population of 8,016.

The first written record about Tornaľa was in 1245.

The town is located in the historical Gemer region. It lies on the Sajó (Slovak: Slaná) river.

In 2001, the population included 62.14% Hungarians, 29.77% Slovaks, and 6.70% Roma.
