Torleep

In Brian Jacques' fantasy world of Redwall, Torleep was an old male hare living in the legendary mountain of Salamandastron during the time of Badger Lord Stonepaw. He wore a monocle and spoke in a very regimental voice. When the mountain came under attack from the Wildcat Warlord Ungatt Trunn and his Blue Hordes, Torleep became one of Stonepaw's chief consultants. Upon the invasion of the mountain, Torleep, Sailears, and their command were captured by Trunn's horde.

The hares were locked in one of Salamandastron's high chambers, where they were fed nothing and given only a pail of water. Despite the grim outlook, Torleep continued to inspirit the hares. He demanded food from Trunn on behalf of the captives and was beaten. The hostages were saved by the hare Stiffener Medick, who scaled the mountain and freed them, thereby keeping the promise he made to Lord Stonepaw before the badger's death.

After his escape, Torleep became a member of the Bark Crew, a disguised group of otters and hares who interecepted Trunn's scouts and foragers. However, Trunn became wise to the group and laid a trap upon the cliffs near Salamandastron. The Bark Crew was caught in a pincer movement, and in the subsequent battle, Torleep was shot through the throat and toppled over the cliff-edge.
