Torgut Mongols

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Torgut Mongols reside today in Northern Xinjiang and those who reside in Russia are called Kalmyks. They were a nomadic tribe. They are a sub-clan of Oirad Mongols, who raided frequently across the Urals into the Volga Valley.[1] Their name is also variously romanized as Torghut, Torghuud, Torguud, or Turgŭt.
