Superb collection of [mostly] old Torch songs, hence the title. There's nothing quite like unrequited love or rejection, and every song on this album follows that theme. Just when you think you're all cried out, another one comes along and you well up again. Full credit goes to Ms Simon for putting this collection together, for the amazing arrangements and for her own particular touch to each song. From "Blue Of Blue", and its deep regret, to "What Shall We Do With The Child" which rips your heartstrings to pieces just when you think it's safe to listen again...and then "Not a Day Goes By" reminds me of my children and I just crumble. An essential part of every collection anywhere, nobody, really nobody does it better.
