TOROS missile

TOROS (TOpçu ROket Sistemi - Artilleryman Rocket System ) 230/260 is an indigeneously developed Turkish tactical artillery rocket system. TOROS is the first and biggest modern rocket system completely designed in Turkey. It is designed by TUBITAK-SAGE (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey - Defence Industries Research and Development Institute). Somehow it is not in the inventory of Turkish Armed Forces, therefore it is not serially produced. Some information about two version of the rockets are as follows;

TOROS 230 A

• Length: 4.1 m
• Diameter: 230 mm
• Warhead: 120 kg preformed fragmentation
• Weight: 326 /197 kg
• Range: 15 /65 km
• Storage life: 10 years
• No of rockets in one pod: 6
• No of pods on a launch vehicle: 2

TOROS 260 A

• Length: 4.8 m
• Diameter: 260 mm
• Warhead: 145 kg preformed fragmentation
• Weight: 483 /265 kg
• Range: 20 /110 km
• Storage life: 10 years
• No of rockets in one pod: 4
• No of pods on a launch vehicle: 2
