Topi (town)

Topi is a small town in NWFP, Pakistan. It is the birth place of Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Khan, who was the pioneer of modern education in the Frontier Province and is located near the world's largest earth-filled dam, Tarbela Dam, which is also the largest hydroelectric generation project in Pakistan. The town of Topi became known after the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI), named after an ex-president (Ghulam Ishaq Khan), was established here. Most of the people are educated. The sole source of income is farming but now a large number people mobolized to foreign countries and drawn their income.
