Top of the World is a powerpop rock song by The All-American Rejects. It is the fourth single from their sophomore album Move Along. Top of the World has a distinct Spanish theme, beginning with an acoustic guitar before it turns into a rock song. Top of the World was also feautured on the soundtrack for Criterion Games racer Burnout Revenge.

[edit] Meaning

The song has occasionally been considered to be a criticism of U.S. President George W. Bush. This is supported with lyrics such as the opening lines of the song:

Is there anybody out there
That wakes up with a bitter taste?
It’s a king that we put up there
And he's a short way to fall from grace

"The king that we put up there" not, of course, being a literal king, but rather the elected President. Elements of this criticism include the reduction of social programs, a common complaint ("Don't be so greedy/A dollar's a penny to you").

[edit] Music Video

The music video for the song showcases concert footage and the band's backstage antics.
