Top Gear 3000 was a sequel to the 1992 video game Top Gear for the Super NES. It is a racing game similar to the original, yet it set in distant future and races take place on alien planets. In all, there are 47 different tracks on the hardest difficulty setting, and varying environments. Car upgrades are more extensive than in Top Gear 2 , and "weapons" are also featured, though in fact they are merely devices to give the player advantages over their opponents. The gameplay modes are single player (fullscreen), single player (split screen, with an AI opponent on the bottom half of the screen), 2 player, and a 4 player vs mode, which is unique in being one of the few Super NES racing games that supports 4 players, via the multitap device.

The game uses the DSP-4 chip for faster graphics processing.

There is one bug that allows you to go through other cars if you have high enough speed or using a nitro.
