Tony Worthington

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

William Anthony Worthington, known as Tony Worthington, (born 11 October 1941) is a politician in the United Kingdom. He was Labour Party member of Parliament for Clydebank and Milngavie, and was first elected in 1987. In 1979 he tried to win the Labour nomination for the Strathclyde West seat in the European Parliament. He is known as a supporter for the recognition of the Republic of Somaliland.

He retired from the House of Commons when Parliament was prorogued on 7 April 2005.

No-one replaced him as MP for Clydebank and Milngavie because the constituency borders in Scotland were redrawn before the 2005 election. This was to bring the number of MPs per head of population in line with the ratio in England (Scotland has previously been over represented).
