Tony Koester is the editor of "Model Railroad Planning," a contributing editor and the Trains of Thought columnist for "Model Railroader," and has written four books for Kalmbach: "Realistic Model Railroad Operations" (2003), "Realistic Model Railroad Design" (2004), "Realistic Model Railroad Building Blocks" (2005), and "Modeling Coal Railroading" (2006). He is a former editor of "Railroad Model Craftsman" and recently retired from a 20-year career in the telecommunications industry. He spent 25 years building and operating the freelanced HO scale Allegheny Midland RR and is now building a multi-deck HO edition of the former Nickel Plate Road's St. Louis Division.
