Tony Klinger is CEO of Klingfilms, a newly created film production company with offices in London and Los Angeles. Tony has just finished making the film Full Circle and is now readying several more films for production including The Man Who Got Carter about his late father, Michael Klinger.

Tony Klinger was until the end of 2006 Chief Executive of production company, agency, and content creators, TLMH.

Tony Klinger has an international reputation as a company leader, hands-on production executive, writer, producer and director.

Tony has served on many international boards, such as the Association of Media Practice Educators (AMPE) and The Audition for Hollywood Company.

Tony was born in Hackney, London in 1950 to Michael and Lily Klinger. Michael was the son of a Polish tailor’s presser in Soho. Michael started as an engineer; rapidly moved from market trader, concession holder, nightclub owner, property developer, cinema owner, and film distributor before settling on his ultimate career, film producer.

Whilst still at school Tony won two national first prizes from sponsored writing competitions and together with some pals ran a successful underground school magazine called Fanfare.

By the age of 18 Tony was making his own small professional films with Michael Lytton, and they received their first public distribution. Though remaining the best of friends, and working in the same industry, Tony and his father rarely worked together until many years later.

1968- 1969 Tony at 18 co-produced, directed and wrote a documentary, Mr. J, and followed this in 1969 with a film on the Cannes Film Festival, The Festival Game, which remains one of the most widely released documentary features in the history of the British Cinema.

1966 – 1967 Tony Klinger's first position in the film industry was as Assistant Director on the Avengers Television Series. Over the next few years he worked both as an Editor and Unit Manager making specialised films for the British Ministry of Defence. During the same period he worked on Sportsweek for ATV and freelanced as the youngest editor at the BBC.The 90s to Present

1972 – 1980 Tony's then started to make rock movies such as Deep Purple Rises Over Japan (Deep Purple), The Kids Are Alright (The Who), and Butterfly Ball (Deep Purple, Twiggy and Vincent Price) and a great many rock videos around the World. These films won many more awards and were very successful. After this Tony line-produced movies such as Rachel’s Man with Moshe Mizrahi directing, and the huge action adventure films Gold starring Roger Moore and Shout at the Devil also starring Moore with Lee Marvin and others during this period.

1970 – 1972 Tony made Extremes a feature length documentary about youth drug addiction. This film won an "Outstanding Picture of the Year Award" from the London Film Festival.

1986 – 1996 Tony formed AVTON, an American PLC, which made a wide range of film, television and video production. Tony has bi-continental business and production experience together with his undoubted creative talents, having served as an executive in video, television and film production, advertising and publishing.

At this stage he wrote for and published some 47 small community magazine titles in the USA.

1984 – 1986 Tony lived in the United States and combined this experience with his already proven knowledge of the international marketplace.

1981 – 1984 Tony moved into television with international releases such as Electric Sky, Galway Plays Mancini, Rock of Ages, Electric Sound Sandwich and many other documentaries and television shows.

1996 – Present In 2006 produced, directed and wrote the feature documentary FULL CIRCLE at sea, in Israel, the UK with Arnon Manor. Prior to which Tony directed a section of the documentary special, OCEANS for Canadian TV. Several of his own feature screenplays are in preparation and production. Including THE PRAYER BOOK and JUST3 which are being prepared for production in 2007-8 along with three other feature films for production as either producer, or executive producer.

1994 – 1995 As a production executive Klinger is well regarded for his forward thinking and much admired for the success and profits his energy and ability in this field creates. This is evidenced by his recent period in Cable and Satellite Television as President of Production at two "start ups" TECC and GPTV formatting all their production plans. Klinger also acts as a media consultant for two leading Japanese banks.

1993 Klinger develops his screenplays SILENT FOOTSTEPS, KICKS and MASTERPIECE and many more projects for international films and television. Writes as London correspondent for the prestigious US publication “CashBox”.

1991 – 1992 Tony successfully executive produced thirty six Educational Videos including, 6 Make the Grade, with Longman Books, a further six programs for Entertainment UK, Make Your Mark, and delivered his TV feature documentary Angels on Horseback. In addition, Tony has also released his series of eleven You Can adult educational videos.

Tony has success in a great variety of media, beginning his career in television as AD on such shows as The Avengers, and then editor on a wide variety of productions, through to Line producing action adventure movies such as “Gold” and “Shout at the Devil”

Tony achieved large-scale success with his work in rock movies, working with legends like Deep Purple and The Who to make their most seminal film works including the recently re-released, “The Kids Are Alright”

Tony has remained a writer throughout his career, not only in film, but also in print, writing for magazines, journals and of course screenplays.

Tony’s American plc AVTON made a diverse range of film, TV, video and advertising.

Tony is now set to release the production “Full Circle”, a feature length documentary, and is in development with two of his own feature drama projects slated for production in 2007-8.

His work moves comfortably between feature films, documentary, television and music videos.

His extensive experience within the film industry, has paved the way in exploring the various media available for creative work to be shown. With mobile technology in particular, the advances have been enormous, notably in the last few years with it now being more than a device to make calls from. As CEO of TLMH, Tony spearheaded the development of innovative and personalized products for mobile users. Best Buddies clearly demonstrates the uniqueness of the “Put yourself in the Picture” service. The product has proved successful with big brands such as The FA, ITV, Manchester United, and The Mirror.

Patriot Dreams - A "what if" feature film based on the premise that the Nazis used the atomic bomb to force America's surrender in 1944. What would have happened to a Jewish family from St. Louis on the run to survive.

The Man who Got Carter - A documentary about the life of the legendary British film producer, Michael Klinger, the man who made such films as Get Carter amongst many others.

Full Circle - is a feature length documentary made by Tony Klinger and Arnon Manor. This production is already filmed (nearly 200 hours in the can), and edited, with computer generated imagery is well advanced and was undertaken, with Sony Imageworks, Hollywood under Arnon's supervision.

This project was seven years in the making and charters a journey of discovery by a young man finding himself against the historical reclamation and salvage of the submarine, Dakar. Full Circle is scheduled for release very shortly.

[edit] Academic Career

In 1996 Tony chose to pursue a long-standing ambition; to educate the filmmakers of tomorrow. Tony saw areas that he felt he could help within the media area's Further and Higher Education systems, and he joined the UK’s most successful film school to make this happen.

Tony worked at the Bournemouth Film School and elsewhere in the following roles, associate lecturer, lecturer, senior lecturer, course leader, course director, programme director, area director, external examiner, programme validator and originator and Visiting Professor. During this period he worked as a Visiting Professor in addition to his UK duties, in Poland, France, Germany and the USA.

Tony helped lead the Bournemouth and Northern Film Schools through a hugely successful period during which they won almost every major national and international prize. He then accepted the appointment as Director of the Multimedia Production Centre at the University of East London.

Whilst at UEL the number of media users under his supervision jumped from several hundred to several thousand. Productions, equipment and general facilities increased by several hundred per cent. Recruitment, retention, academic and technical staff numbers and quality all measurably increased.

Tony still works as a validator and external examiner for the Open University Validation Service and sometimes gives master classes in film production to various universities in the UK and elsewhere.

2007 - Tony forms Klingfilms and continues his work for the OUVS.

2006 - TLMH moves to London's Canary Wharf and goes international. Tony resigns from TLMH at the end of the year.

2005 - TLMH becomes a fully autonomous commercial company. - Serving as External Examiner for the Open University and other institutions in the UK and overseas.

2004 - Appointed CEO designate for TLMH. - Retains his role at UEL as Director of TLMH and the Media Production Centre. - Appointed to UEL’s Knowledge Transfer Board, and as the External Validation partner to other institutions. - Joins the Advisory Board of Audition for Hollywood.

2003 - Elected to the Board of the National Executive of The Academy of Media Practice Educators (AMPE) serving as National Secretary. - Assisting with the formation of the London Chapter of The Education Committee of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA). - Representing the University of East London via London First at CEBIT in Hanover and at IGDA’s Academic Summit in San Jose. - Tony was Director of the Multimedia Production Centre (Academic & Enterprise) for the University of East London.

2002 - Talent Lab and Media Hub, known jointly as TLMH commenced operations. - Klinger’s arrival at UEL produces income generation has increased by a factor of twelve. - Klinger arranges for UEL to host the annual AMPE (Academy of Media Practice Educators) conference of which he served as Co-Chair of the Conference Committee.  Serving as an External Examiner for the American Intercontinental University of London, and as a Consultant for Business Links for London and several other organisations.

2000 - Appointed Course Leader and Head of Production for the Northern Film School’s - Postgraduate Diploma and MA Courses. - Production student numbers increased by more than 300%. - Klinger represented his schools’ at the Student film festivals at Cannes, Munich, Tel Aviv and Lodz where he served on the Jury. - Tony's NFS entry to the 2000 Fuji Film Scholarship Awards won 9 of the 11 available national awards including Best Production, Most Commercial Film, Best Direction and many others.

1997 - Served at the Bournemouth Film School as Acting Course Director and lecturer for its undergraduate provision. - Director of Sales and Head of Production for The Film School.

Klinger Published his first Academic Paper for Media ‘98 at The Institute of Education in London as well as lecturing in California at several universities for the California State University System. Since when he has published several more Academic Papers and Articles.
