Tone District, Gunma

Tone (利根郡; -gun) is a district located in Gunma, Japan.

As of 2003 population data but accounting for decreases due to the February 13, 2005 merger, the district has an estimated population of 41,454 and a density of 31.3 persons per km². The total area is 1,322.38 km².

On February 13, 2005, the following villages were dissolved after merging into Numata: Shirasawa and Tone.

On October 1, 2005, the following village and town were dissolved to create the new town of Minakami: (former) Minakami, Niiharu, and Tsukiyono.
