The present article, Tony Pierce, should not be confused with the subject of two deletion debates ending in deletion of a same-named article; see Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Tony_Pierce and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tony Pierce (second nomination) for those deletion discussions. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 19:55, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

IMDb can be used as a source for the appearances of an actor/actress. Although it cannot be simply copied and pasted as was done here. I've reverted your change to the article for Sylvester Stallone. Dismas|(talk) 10:02, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Except that the filmography featured in this article wasn't a simple cut & paste, it was fairly extensive edited. Also, I think you'll find the filmography on the Sylvester Stallone article is a direct IMDb copy & paste (with the only editing being the 'aka' titles of the films removed). Therefore, by your own very logic, either the filmography in the article returns, or the Sylvester Stallone one goes.Pagga 10:30, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
I don't really want to get into a discussion over semantics. The best places to ask for clarification would be at the Help desk or at Wikipedia:WikiProject Films. If filmographies weren't allowed then the thousands of articles with them would have them removed and yet they're still there. If IMDb weren't allowed at all as a source, then I suspect that we wouldn't have an actor's IMDb page as the first link in the external links section of pretty much every actor here. Also, as further proof that filmographies are allowed, see Wikipedia:Manual of Style (lists of works)#Filmographies Dismas|(talk)
I'm only going on the reason cited for the initial removal of the IMDb-sourced filmography from the Tony Pierce article. It seems that Wikipedia is full of contradictions depending on who you ask, so getting a definiteve answer is like banging your head against a brick wall. Also, I noticed that you have since replaced a partial filmography on the Tony Pierce article. However, you listed a film which is still in post-production (The Undeserted) as being released in 2004. This is an error on IMDb's part (see offical site in external links), so it would be appreciated if you could rectify this. Also, from my understanding a 'selected filmography' should include the most notable roles, but you neglected to include The Bodyguard, one of his biggest roles to date. Again, you might want to look at correcting this. As if that wasn't enough, the links you have provided do not direct to the correct articles for the films/TV shows. The correct links were in the original filmography I provided.Pagga 11:00, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
So fix it. This encyclopedia is editable by anyone and you've clearly shown that you can edit articles. I simply put in a filmography that wouldn't look so much like a copy and paste from IMDb since that's what seemed to bother the editor that removed it in the first place. I tried to help by adding in info that is standard for the bios of actors and I get scolded by you. I tried to help assert the notability of T.P. but you argue with me as to what policies say. I'm done with this, I don't have time for large edits or dealing with defensive editors. Dismas|(talk) 01:02, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
