[edit] Question on Category: Combinatorial principles

Sorry if I trod on your toes - but I haven't deleted what you wrote. What you were building was an article - and it's still there, as Combinatorial principles. Categories are simply there to list articles that are related, not to write at length about what the categories are for. As for the category itself, it's still there, but empty. It would only ever have had eight articles, if Combinatorial principles is to be believed, which isn't really sufficient for a separate category, especially since its parent category only has about 80 articles. If you wish to repopulate it with articles, feel free - it just didn't seem a viable category to me (also feel free to argue its case at Wikipedia:Categories_for_deletion#Category:Combinatorial_principles. Oh, and categories are never stubs - the correct template to use for an underpopulated category is Template:popcat! Grutness|hello? 04:57, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation. I wish I knew about the article Combinatorial principles. My intention was not to write an article but just to give temporary information to all who would want to help me in my little project... someone should make this template (popcat) more popular in various help pages...

You're probably right about that. Still, there's a basic guideline on Wikipedia is that if something is worth a category, it should at the very least have an article about it, so having the article was a good idea anyway. [edit] Question on Category Combinatorial principles II

I don't know of any such tools, unfortunately - the best way is simply do it by hand, I think - add a "See also" heading at the bottom of the article, and put any cross-referencing links there. Either than that (probably the better way), try to weave your cross-references into the text simply by mentioning the connection between the two - e.g., if you've got two related fields of study called Fnudd and Sponn, then in the Fnudd article asss a sentence somewhere saying ""Fnudd shares similarities with the field of Sponn, which also deals with blah blah blah", and then do something similar in the other article.
There may be some automatic cross-referencing system... it might be worth asking at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical). Hope that helps! Grutness|hello? 13:43, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)

It takes all of us a while to get used to doing things in a certain style. I would say the most important thing is to put all articles you edit on your watchlist, and watch them periodically to see who changed what. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL.
