[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!

Dear Tom mayfair: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD! Cheers, DanielNuyu 04:17, 3 July 2006 (UTC).

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:MUN.png

Thanks for uploading Image:MUN.png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. YellowDot 01:54, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

What's ok on Unencyclopedia is not ok on Wikipedia. Here every image has to have two things: (1) source and (2) copyright tag. If one of the things is missing, the image will be deleted. I suggest contacting the original uploader and asking him/her for the info. And, BTW, you might want to simplify your signature (again, different rules than UE). YellowDot 17:35, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Whatever. Delete the image if it's that big of a deal. I won't shed a tear.Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 12:05, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Signature

Hi, please read Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages, especialy the sections on images and length. Your current signature take up 8(!!) lines on the edit window, that's more than the average talk page post just for your signature block. That's extremely exessive, and looking at the code much of it is totaly redundant too (one font tag per letter that all spesify the same color for example). Please clean it up and trim it down to a managable level as it's current form is downright disruptive. Thanks. --Sherool (talk) 18:22, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Okay, I toned it down. You can calm down now. Paxil can help with your anxiety. As for your ADHD, I don't know what drug will help you. I hope my signature doesn't .... hey I'm talking to you... I was saying that I hope my signature doesn't distract you in the future.Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 15:34, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
I came here too because I found your signature to be unnecessarily animated and distracting. Please at least consider replacing the animated image with a static one. -Will Beback 23:18, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Your statement is in consideration. I had no idea that so many people have ADHD. It's so sad. Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 04:26, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Unless you're a medical doctor, please avoid diagnosing the mental afflictions of your fellow editors. -Will Beback 09:38, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Unless you're an expert on distractions, please avoid diagnosing this affliction of your fellow editors.Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 15:39, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm an expert on what I find distracting. Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages#Images says:
  • Images of any kind should not be used in signatures.
And the section on Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages#Length says:
  • Keep signatures short, both in display and markup.
Your signature violates both. Please change it. -Will Beback 20:30, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
How about no? Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 20:53, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
I hadn't notice before, but you also have an external link in your signature, which is also prohibited:
  • Do not include links to external websites in your signature.
I don't know if you're intentionally flouting the community, but your refusal to change your signature makes it appear that way. Please change it. -Will Beback 21:28, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
I see that Image:Sucrose b.gif is copyrighted [1]. I'm going to delete it. -Will Beback 21:45, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Image:RedPhone.jpg does not appear to be a free image either. Please do not upload random images and then mark them as free use. -Will Beback 22:15, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
And your source is?Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 22:59, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
It's the uploader's responsibility to provide the source. I see the image on copyrighted pages such as here[2], and here[3]. -Will Beback 23:03, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
The molecule? I'm testing you.Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 23:09, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
I already provided the link for the spinning molecule, above. -Will Beback 23:27, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
And please don't remove the source request tag from Image:RedPhone.jpg.[4] If you can't provide a legitimate free-use source then it will have to be deleted. -Will Beback 23:29, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
It doesn't state the pixels, the colors, nor the image itself. Link your source to the image itself. Plus Redphone is now greyphone. I modified it as not to violate the copyright.Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 23:31, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Since you're not indicating there's any free-use source I've deleted it as well. -Will Beback 23:39, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

There you go. I editted it and release it into public domain. Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 23:44, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
You cannot edit a copyrighted image and thereby remove the copyright. If you go take a phot of a phone yourself you may then release that. But best of all would be if you comply with the requests and the signatures guidelines. If you do not you may be blocked. -Will Beback 00:46, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Both outside of copyright. Good day.Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 01:23, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Please stop uploading copyrighted images with false licenses. Please remove the external link and the images from your signature. -Will Beback 01:25, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
These are not copyrighted. Are you blind? You will not find that molecule in use anywhere but in my signature. Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 01:31, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Spam

You are engaging in spam by adding an external link to your signature. Please remove it. -Will Beback 01:42, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Uncyclopedia link removed.Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 01:49, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. -Will Beback 06:48, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Meh.Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 09:03, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Trolling

This is your last warning.
The next time you troll someone, as you did on this talkpage, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please stop trolling others, this is not Uncyclopedia. Walter Humala Godsave him! (wanna Talk?) 16:54, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

I haven't broken any rules. The rules state that I shouldn't do certain things. If it said, DO NOT then I wouldn't. I can't help that the writers of the policies here are gobshites and lack definition. And get your own identity on Uncyclopedia. If you do copy other peoples stuff, atleast take out their information before savin' it. Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 02:34, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Well yeah, not exactly you were trolling but not talking nice (like the others). About my uncyclopedia userpage, hehe, sorry for copying your code on mine, I'll change it as possible to a n.a.z.i. style. Sorry & talk later.-- Walter Humala Godsave him! (wanna Talk?) 17:01, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] March 19

Please do not delete content from articles on Wikipedia, as you did to Oscar Wilde. Your edits could be considered vandalism, and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.MelicansMatkin 04:27, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

The section was a double. See for yourself. Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 04:29, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Sections 4 & 5 are the same. One section should be removed. Vandalism my arse. Get a clue. Premier Tom MayfairTalkF@H 04:32, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Please accept my apologies - I had not checked the entire article before reverting, which I should have. I'm sorry about that. MelicansMatkin 04:40, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
