[edit] Biography
Tomhongs is a seventeen year old currently in his first year at Tampines Junior College in Singapore. He had previously studied in Pasir Ris Primary School and St Hilda's Secondary School. He is currently involved with Wikipedia:WikiProject Harry Potter and Wikipedia:SGpedians' notice board. I've been a Wikipedian in June 2005 (cannot remmember the exact date) but have been visiting and editing since 2003. This is a wonderful site and I look forward to giving my best this site. [edit] ContactsFeel free to leave me a message on my talk page. If your message is abusive or rude, I will feel free to ignore you. For more personal or private communication, I can be readily contacted directly via tomhongs@gmail.com. [edit] InterestsTomhongs enjoys reading, especially conspiracy novels and Harry Potter, watching television, playing PS2 games such as Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Tomhongs also likes the James Bond series on film and PS2 and the Syphon Filter series. [edit] Video games[edit] MGSMetal Gear Solid series is my favourite video game. I played Metal Gear Solid, Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater. Out of the three, I find Metal Gear Solid's storyline the best; Snake Eater's gameplay truly awesome . Not that I dislike Sons of Liberty though, just that the storyline was ultra-confusing and players don't get to play using the character Snake often. This is the game for you if you like action packed games with a fantastic storyline. [edit] Syphon FilterI love the storyline and the gameplay. I love conspiracy stories and SF has done a pretty good job with the entire sotryline so far. You get to lock on to targets and kill them swiftly. The storyline and the locations in the game are awesome. Though some may criticise the series to be getting lousier, I still think it's great. [edit] James BondI have watched all the movies, official and unofficial. Just a note, official James Bond movies are movies made by EON Productions while unoffical movies means the opposite. My favourites movies are For Your Eyes Only, Goldfinger, The Spy Who Loved Me, Octopussy, On Her Majesty's Secret Service and The Living Daylights. There is no favourite Bond actor for me though, I believe each actor has his merit to playing the role. I do, however, feel that Lois Maxwell is the definitive Miss Moneypenny and Bernard Lee as M and dear Desmond Llewelyn as Q. The others just aren't there. Now that I'm done with the movies so far, I am moving onto the novels, if I can find them that is. Not forgetting the games too. [edit] BooksSome of Tomhongs favourite books are The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling, The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon, The Manchurian Candidate by Richard Condon, A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks and Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell. I highly recommend them to all. [edit] Harry PotterI started reading the Harry Potter series in 2004 (yes, that is slow). I finished the Philosopher's Stone, Chambers of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban. In the following year I started on Goblet of Fire and, in the June holidays, completed Order of the Phoenix. I look forward to Book 6 July 16 2005. The books are fabulous and I strongly recommend all to read it. However, I find that the books are suitable only for ages 13 and above. It's because there are certain content in the books such as in Philosopher's Stone, Voldermort drinking blood from the unicorn. I thought that a little too much for young readers. I also find that the series are in no way whatsoever anti-Christian or any other religion for the matter. It teaches you so much about pluralism, bravery, and the angst and problems teenagers of Harry's age faces. I being around the same age as the characters in the book felt this book was a mouthpiece to let the world know the hearts of students. Its a great book and please, do the book justice by reading it before actually commenting on it, it's the least one can do. [edit] Dan BrownI first read Digital Fortress in 2004 (the year I got back back into reading after a long hiatus). It was rather confusing because of the description of certain locations and buildings. I'll try to read to book again and hopefully have a better picture of what Brown is describing. With the hype going on, I decided to start reading The Da Vinci Code. It was truly shocking. But I guess the biggest lesson learnt from the book is the phrase, "Winners make histories, losers become history". We may never know whether the book is entirely true but it made us rethink our faith again, hopefully for the better. I will try to start on Deception Point and Angels and Demons soon.
