Tommy Spurr (born in Leeds on 13 September 1987) is an English footballer currently playing for Sheffield Wednesday F.C.

Tommy is a central defender who joined Sheffield Wednesday full time in 2004 and in his first season established himself in the reserves and won a place on the bench for the first team. He was named Academy player of the year in the 2004-05 season and made his first team debut against Reading on 22 April 2006. He was awarded Sponsor's Man of the Match for his performance in the game.

The 2006-2007 season has seen Spurr hold down a regular place in the starting eleven, his steady performances making him a crowd favourite.

There has been some controversy regarding how exactly Spurr came into football , some state the only reason he has made it pro, is because his dad used to be "best mates" with every manager and coach the academy team had throughout the years, this included taking them out for dinner, rounds of golf, and buying them lampshades for their birthdays. As well as this at the age of 16 he was took to the office, and told he'd never make it a professional playing in centre midfield( his position throughout his academy time) so rather than releasing him, which was the standard procedure at hillsborough at the academy, they instead found him a place in defence. Apparently due to close relations with coaches, and his father Cliff.

In December 2006, Spurr was given a new two and a half year contract which took his contract up until the summer of 2009. this is very true! sir Alex ferguson was once quoted to say about spurr "tommy will never be able to play football aslong as he has got a hole in his arse!"
