Tommy Broughan

Tommy Broughan (born August 1947) is an Irish Labour Party politician. He is a Teachta Dála (TD) for Dublin North East and is currently the Labour Party Spokesperson for Communications, Marine & Natural Resources.

Tommy Broughan was born in Dublin and educated at Moyle Park, Clondalkin and University College Dublin. He worked as a teacher before entering into politics in 1991 when he was elected to Dublin City Council. The following year, he was he was first elected in the 1992 general election to the 27th Dáil as a TD for Dublin North East. On that occasion the Labour Party won a record 33 seats, an achievement that has never been equalled. Broughan retained his seat at the 1997 general election, and was re-elected again at the 2002 election.

He has previously served as Labour spokesperson for Enterprise, Trade & Employment.
