From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tomentose is a term used to describe plant hairs that are woolly-like with bent hairs that are matted down. Often the hairs are silver or gray-colored and many species of plants have been named using tomentose because they have their leaf and stem surfaces covered with tomentosa hairs, including: Paulownia tomentosa, Uncaria tomentosa, Opuntia tomentosa, Rhodomyrtus tomentosa, Aristolochia tomentosa, Achillea tomentosa plus many others.
