Tom Werman
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tom Werman (born Boston) is a record producer for Epic Records. He has worked on albums by several acts including Mother's Finest, Ted Nugent, Cheap Trick, Molly Hatchet, Blue Öyster Cult, Mötley Crüe, Twisted Sister, W.A.S.P., Stryper and Poison, some of whom he also discovered. He earned many gold and platinum records for these and other bands he produced. Tom became an independent producer in the 80's.
Werman's production style has often been attacked by critics as too clean and controlled for the hard rock and heavy metal albums that he has produced. In particular, the members of Cheap Trick lambasted his production of In Color, their second album. Despite the band's complaints however, the sales of In Color doubled that of it's harsher-sounding predecessor and made Cheap Trick superstars in Japan, proving Werman's commercial instincts to be accurate.
